Obituary for Lana Langston
Bishop Dr. Lana Langston (nee Johnson), 69, embraced the One whom she loved most on Monday, October 7, 2019. She was born in Tokyo, Japan, on December 25, 1949, to her military family, Charles “Mac” Johnson and Edna E. Johnson (nee Davis). She is survived by her husband, Archbishop Dr. Lonnie Langston; children Angela Henry (Erik), Bryan Tyson, bonus children April Brock (nee Langston) and Larry Langston (Dina); Grandchildren Loni, Lindsey, Ethan, and Gabby; two great-grandchildren, Raelynn and Connor; sister Nancy Raley (Sonny), one niece; one nephew; three great-nieces; spiritual sons and daughters; many aunts; and, several cousins, including an incredibly good-looking one.
Dr. Langston, her parents, and sister later moved to Germany where she spent some years, then moved to her family's home town of Coeburn, Virginia. Afterward, she spent time in Orlando, Florida, and finally came to the Tampa Bay area.
She accomplished many things in her lifetime affecting multitudes of lives.
Dr. Langston was the COO of Tabernacle Bible College and Seminary and Co-Pastor of High Places International Ministries. In addition, she was a certified master life coach and trainer, establishing a network of life coaches that still stands strong. She held a Ph.D. in Religious Philosophy, a Th.D. in Theology, and a Master of Divinity and Religious Arts.
She traveled to Israel, England, France, and the Caribbean with her husband, speaking in conventions and conferences affecting cultures. She was a Prophetess with an incredible gift that helped untold numbers to go deeper in God. Her passion was the book of Song of Solomon in Scripture that describes the love relationship between the Bridegroom and the Bride, which is Christ and the Church. She created many spectacular events that moved participants to a deeper relationship with God.
She was the first Lady to be ordained as a Bishop in the worldwide organization TransAtlantic and Pacific Alliances of Churches. Setting the example, several ladies were later ordained as Bishops over their churches as well. She carried herself as royalty, but with great humility. Elegant, classy, intuitive, forerunner, cutting-edge, and the epitome of a lady are just a few of the ways friends, family, and ministers described her.
She loved life and people and always had words of encouragement and motivation.
Her sense of humor was infectious. She could laugh at anything, including herself. She loved her family with remarkable passion, raising them in the things of God.
She was a designer extraordinaire. Every home she lived in had her signature touch and looked like it came straight from a magazine. And, no one else could turn a tractor shed into a beautiful house of worship the way she could!
There was a presence about her that made everyone feel important. But, no one, besides Jesus, was more important to her than her family. She always believed the best of her family and saw them as Jesus saw them, seeing their potential and their calling.
Although she had a lot of titles, her most important titles were Mom, Wife, Grammy, Bubbie, and Friend.
We will miss her greatly!
