Juan Carlos Dominguez, 77, of Queens, New York, passed away peacefully at his home in Riverview, Florida, surrounded by loved ones on October 5, 2025.
Born in San Juan, Argentina, to Tomás Dominguez and Regina (Moroso) Dominguez, Carlos was preceded in death by his brother, Antonio Dominguez, and his son, Michael Dominguez, who was born still but forever loved.
He is survived by his sisters Norma Dominguez, Maria Dominguez, and Esther Godoy, of Argentina, and by his many children, whom he considered his greatest wealth. Carlos is survived by Graciela Dominguez of Argentina, Marisa Dominguez of Spain, Oscar Alberto Dominguez of Argentina, Martha Echevarria of Florida, Peter Dominguez of Florida, Juan Dominguez Jr. of Massachusetts, Rick Dominguez of Massachusetts, Carla Dominguez of Virginia, Gabriela Falconieri of Massachusetts, Laura Russo of Massachusetts, Jorge Dominguez of Florida, and Andrea Dominguez of New York. He also leaves behind many beloved grandchildren.
Carlos had a quick wit, a deep love of boxing, fútbol, cycling, and his cigarillo. His fight and spirit were unmatched; he defied every diagnosis and prediction until the very end. Once his mind was set, there was no persuading him otherwise – an iron will that has become his legacy and will live on through generations of his family.
Carlos came to this country with nothing and worked tirelessly every day of his life. From washing dishes to becoming a successful business owner, entrepreneur, and landlord, he embodied the American dream. He was the “mayor” of every neighborhood he lived in, and it was never a surprise to hear someone shout his name from across the street.
He was an incredible cook who insisted on serving more than anyone could possibly eat. He was a “laughing at you, not with you” kind of guy, but you wouldn’t mind, because you’d end up laughing too. Carlos loved his children and grandchildren deeply, even when they were far from him. While he always longed for his homeland, he built a life that his younger self could never have dreamed possible – even becoming a US citizen.
The family will be holding a private ceremony in New York. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The TEARS Foundation of New York, which provides financial assistance for funeral expenses for infants, as well as emotional support and counseling to families coping with loss.
