With heavy hearts, we share the passing of our beloved mother and friend, Irma Schaefer. After a courageous battle with COPD spanning over a decade, Irma passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on Friday, August 15, 2025.
Irma was preceded in death by her life partner, William Schaefer, and leaves behind her five children—Wayne, Brian, Glenn, Bill, and Betty Ann and ten grandchildren—Sierra, Brianna, Marcus, Kalynn, Alyssa, Clayton, Elise, Jason, Brandon and Dustin, and eight great grandchildren..
Irma was a no-nonsense, direct woman with a love for the simple pleasures of life. She enjoyed horseback riding, tennis, and card games, but above all, she found her greatest happiness in supporting her children and celebrating their dreams. She created a home filled with warmth, love, and laughter, and instilled in her family the values of resilience and hard work.
Irma began her professional life as a hairdresser in New York and, after relocating to Florida, devoted over 30 years to a career in the hospitality industry. She took pride in her work and in the life she built for her family—always showing up to encourage and cheer them on.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, August 29, 2025 at 4:00 PM at, Southern Funeral Care located at 10510 Riverview Drive, Riverview, FL 33578
