Obituary for Susan Hohlfeld Johnson
Susan “Mom Mom Sue” Johnson Hohlfeld joined her brothers and parents in heaven on May 10, 2018. She was 71 years young.
Susan was born on September 25, 1946 in Philadelphia, PA to her parents, Edward and Florence Hohlfeld. She graduated from nursing school in Abington, PA. She then attended the College of Saint Francis and completed her Bachelors in Healthcare Administration. She had a passion for helping others in need and was the beloved caregiver of her parents and siblings as they aged. Susan was drawn to her nursing career and loved being a home health nurse in the latter years of her work life. She officially retired (upon her third attempt) on December 31, 2017. Even after her retirement, she continued to stay in touch with her patients through calls, and friendly visits.
Susan was a loving and dedicated daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to many. Her zest for life and easy way of bringing humor to the day will be sorely missed. Susan is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jed and Patti Hohlfeld of Lithia, FL ; her daughter Beth Wilson of Tampa, FL; her grandchildren, Jacob Johnson, Samantha (Christian) Dodson, Aidan Hohlfeld, Nate Hohlfeld; and her great-grandchild Leona Dodson. She is preceded in death by her parents Edward and Florence Hohlfeld; her brothers Edward “Ned” Hohlfeld and the Rev. Archimandrite Martin Hohlfeld.
A funeral service is scheduled for 10:00 AM on Monday, May 14, 2018 at Holy Protection Orthodox Christian Church in Dover, FL. The burial will immediately follow at Bloomingdale Community Cemetery, 3301 Bloomingdale Ave. Valrico, FL 33596. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Susan’s life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Holy Protection Orthodox Christian Church at 3820 Moores Lake Rd. Dover, FL. 33527. The family would like to thank dear friends Ms. Betty Wick, Ms. Dierdre Clifford, Ms. Cindy Steffy and the Very Rev.
