"The Jeff Wood"
WOOD, Jeffrey C., born July 2, 1965, in Tampa, lost his battle with brain cancer September 12, 2007, at his mother' s home in Valrico, Fla. Jeff was raised in Brandon, graduating in 1983 from Brandon High School, where he played varsity soccer. He attended Andrew College in Cuthbert, Ga., on a soccer scholarship. He returned to Tampa, where he pursued his passion, music, playing the drums. Jeff performed with many bands through the years and became a prominent figure on the Tampa music scene, known by many as "The" Jeff Wood. When he wasn' t performing or practicing his music, Jeff worked at Saks Fifth Avenue at Westshore Plaza and part time at Federal Express. Besides music, he was an avid sports fan, especially of soccer. His favorite team was Arsenal of the English Premiere League. Survivors include his mother, Jan Wood of Valrico; father, Glen Wood, and his wife, Sue, of Plant City; brother, Jim Wood of Brandon; sister, Amy Franklin of Lakeland; fiancee, Vicki Yado of Tampa; three nieces and one nephew; and his beloved "pups," Bubbles and Sebastian. A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church, 121 Knights Ave., Brandon. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to LifePath Hospice or H. Lee Moffit Cancer Center.
