Francis "Fran" Thomas
THOMAS, Francis D., of Brandon, FL, son of George H. Thomas and Hazel Thomas, passed away on Friday, August 21, 2009. Fran was born in Fairbury, IL on April 5, 1935. After graduating from high school, he attended Illinois State University, then moved to the Tampa Bay area in 1959. He was charter member of First Presbyterian Church of Brandon, and raised his family in the Brandon community. He is survived by his loving wife, Phyllis of 53 years. Fran and Phyllis were blessed with five children, including their youngest son Todd, who preceded him in death in 1983. His surviving children include Dr. Tami Thomas (Richard Engelberth) of Augusta, GA; Timothy Thomas (Jennifer), Traci Wright (Paul), and Teresa Silva (Duane) all of Brandon. Fran was grandfather to Robert and Renee Engelberth, Sophie Wright and Lydia Silva. He was preceded in death by two sisters Marilynn Jean Thomas, Margaret Phillips and five brothers Robert, Richard, Charles, George, Nelson with his surviving brother Ron Thomas residing in Peoria, IL. A special thank to Dr. Jaime Casellas, Dr. Raphael Blanco, and Dr. George James for their dedication and personal care.
Funeral Information
Services will be conducted by Pastor Gene Reynolds at Faith Baptist Church, 1118 N. Parsons Ave., Brandon, FL 33510 on Saturday, August 29, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. with a reception at the church following the service.
