Obituary for Jean L. Cagnina
Jean L. Cagnina, 84, passed away Friday, June 19, 2020. Born in St. Louis, Mo., Jean has resided in the Tampa & Brandon areas since 1956. A graduate of Cleveland High School, Jean was involved in many school activities including student council, orchestra, and being a member of the softball & bowling teams. She began her career as a legal secretary, but also worked for the Hillsborough County School System as a teacher’s aide, was a licensed realtor, and worked for the Eli Witt/HT Hackney food brokerage companies. Her favorite career was being a phenomenal Mom & Nana. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, James Cagnina; son, Devon Cagnina; her first husband, James Farmer; parents, Peter & Martha and 14 brothers & sisters. Jean is survived by her 5 children, David (Monica) Farmer, Diane (Darrell) Hink, Don (Pam) Cagnina, Dina Cagnina and Darlene (Jimmie) Jordan; 7 grandchildren, Jake (Whitney)Jordan, Justin Jordan, Joe Cagnina, Jon Cagnina, Josh (Christina) Shannon, Matthew Hink & Emily Hink; 4 great-grandchildren, Aniah, Jayden, Sienna and Kyla Shannon; in-laws, Josie & Jack Pollock, Rose Luiaconi and numerous nieces and nephews. Jean was an incredible baker and cook, extremely creative, and through the years involved as a board member of South Brandon Little League, Pony/Colt Baseball, operated Brandon High School concessions and enjoyed spending time with La Tropicana’s coffee club. She had a tremendous love for her family, friends and pets. Her heart was big, she was always eager to help those less fortunate & will be greatly missed by all. Funeral services will be held 11:30 A.M. Thursday, June 25, 2020, at Southern Funeral Care, 10510 Riverview Drive, Riverview, with the family receiving friends one hour prior to services. Interment will follow at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL. Due to CDC guidelines, attendance for the service will be limited. Casketbearers are Joe and Jon Cagnina; Josh Shannon; Darrell Hink; Jake, Justin and Jimmie Jordan. Due to the pandemic, an open “Celebration of Life” will be observed at a later date.In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Humane Society of Tampa Bay or Hillsborough County’s Pet Resource Center.
