Viva, the 5th of 5 children, was born in West Helena, Arkansas in November 1944 to Charles Otho Lowe and Alma Vivian Lowe (Divine).
She spent her active working life in hospitality and dry cleaning where her charming personality and natural people skills facilitated her success in both fields. She truly had a gift for gab and nobody she met was a stranger for long.
After fulfilling her childhood dream of being a mother, she discovered a new passion for being a grandmother and great grandmother. She was never so happy as when she was surrounded by her family and her friends that were her chosen family. She loved thrifting and crocheting in her free time, and if she wasn’t doing that, you might have found her on the couch with her cats, a bag of M&Ms, and a bottle of Pepsi listening to her favorite singer, Ray Stevens.
Viva was generous to a fault; always ready and willing to give a hand to anyone in need. Her generous spirit allowed her to live a life filled with precious friendships that she cherished deeply.
She never suffered fools gladly and always made her opinion known, for better or for worse. She had a fiery personality and was always quick to tell you to ‘shut up’ or ‘go away’ as she felt necessary; she was herself to the very end.
Viva, a lifelong Evangelical Christian, believed God’s word was true, and she taught it to her family, as well. She knew absent from the body is present with the Lord. We take immense comfort in the knowledge that she is pain free and having a glorious heavenly reunion with beloved family and pets. Her loss has created a void in the lives of those around her that will likely never be filled.
Viva was proceeded in death by cherished family members: father Charles Otho Lowe, mother Alma Vivian Divine Lowe, sister Jenna Lee Lowe, brother James E. Lowe and brother-in-law Jack L. Smith.
