EVANS, Vera Hogan, 87, of Tampa, passed away on Wednesday, May 23, 2012. Beloved mother of Karen Evans Lewis, Tampa, Susan Evans Small, Palm Harbor, FL and Robert W. Evans, Winter Haven, FL. The beloved wife of Robert M. Evans, who predeceased her on October 5, 1981 and the beloved mother of William E. Evans, who predeceased her on October 17, 1965. Wonderful mother-in-law to Ruth Evans, Bill Small and Steve Lewis. Loving grandmother of Bill, Michelle, Bonnie, Todd, Shannon, Sarah and Jill. Loving great-grandmother to nine. Born in Eureka, FL, on February 14, 1925, to Viola and Roy Hogan, Vera grew up in the Ocala area with her sister Mildred and brother, Hubert, all of whom have predeceased her. Vera worked for Western Union until she met and married Robert Evans. Vera raised her family in Titusville, FL, where her husband was a contractor and built many homes in the community. Vera relocated to Sun City Center, FL in 1991 and led an active life there, becoming trained to work as a volunteer for the emergency squad, working for the American Cancer Society for several years and becoming active in her beloved church, Bell Shoals Baptist Church, Brandon. When she retired from the emergency squad, she began to work for Meals on Wheels, staying active and helping others. Vera made many friends along the way with her sunny disposition and positive outlook on life. She will be missed greatly by her family and friends, but all who knew her know that she is at peace and safe in the arms of Jesus.
Funeral Information
Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M. Friday, May 25, 2012, at Bell Shoals Baptist Church, Brandon, with a reception to follow. Interment will follow at 3:30 P.M. at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, Titusville, FL.
