Obituary for Thomas Oren Grisham
Thomas Oren Grisham passed away peacefully on Easter morning, April 21, 2019, after a battle with Brain Cancer. He was born in Tyler, Texas November 13, 1952 to Oren and Mable
Grisham. He is survived by his wife, Kathy Fox Grisham; his daughter, Erin Powers and her husband John Powers; his son, Matthew Grisham and his wife Lorraine Grisham and 5 granddaughters, Olivia Rose Hart, Sophia Jasmine Powers, Cecelia Iris Powers, Alexandra Elizabeth Grisham and Lila June Grisham and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, Oren and Mable Grisham and brother, Leland Daniel Grisham. Tom went to Robert E. Lee High School in Tyler, TX then went on to Tyler Junior College and graduated from Stephen F. Austin College, Nacogdoches, TX, graduating with a BS in Agriculture. He worked in the Agriculture Industry for over 40 years as a Manufacturers Sales Representative and received the coveted Salesmaster Award from W. R. Grace in 1980 at the beginning of his career in sales. In 2016, received an award for Salesman of the Year from Berry Global towards the end of his career. He received many accolades throughout his career but he was especially proud of these awards. Tom excelled in his career and he loved what he did until he was forced to retire in 2018 due to his illness. While Tom loved his job, he loved his family even more. He was very proud of his children for all their accomplishments, especially the 5 granddaughters they gave him. He was a loving and generous husband. He never met a stranger and always had a joke to tell. He loved all kinds of music, loved to travel and golf. He was a kind and generous man with integrity to spare. He served as usher at St. Stephen Catholic Church for many years. He assisted his wife in the Youth Ministry and Confirmation program for over 7 years while she was Youth Minister at St. Stephen. He came to know and love this ministry and the youth that came through that ministry. He sponsored a young man who came into the Catholic Church during that time. Tom was also a convert to Catholicism. He will be missed by his family and friends. For those interested, you can read Tom's journey at www.caringbridge.org.
