Obituary for Thomas Francis Bailey, Sr.
BAILEY, Thomas F., Sr. 85, of Tampa, passed away unexpectedly during mass at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church on Saturday, March 7, 2020. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Bailey; son, Thomas F. Bailey, Jr. He is survived by his wife, Joan Owens; daughters, Doreen Radder (Lloyd), Carol LaCour (Raymond), Karen Young (Robert); step-daughters, Darleen Smith (Lance), and Kathleen Owens (Greg); sister, Joan Rucci (Frank); grandchildren, Mandi Radder Cardillo (Ryan), Robert Young, Michael Radder, Kimberly LaCour Grucza (Vincent), Natalie Young, Amelia Young, Zachary LaCour, and Lauren Young; great-grandchildren, Samantha Cardillo, Luke Cardillo, and Lucy Grucza. Thomas to date, was a long-standing member of the Knights of Columbus. After graduating from Calvert Hall in Maryland, he served in the Naval Armed Forces. He attended Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church since 1965. There he was involved in many ministries and organizations. Over the years, he served as Eucharistic Minister, Usher, COR Director, CYO advisor and scout leader to name a few. He also held officer positions in many organizations. Tom was a sports fanatic. He played on the football team in high school. He coached at Southeast Little League as well as PAL football in Tampa. He umpired baseball for many years. Catching any and all sports on television was one of his latest partimes, especially the new XFL and the Rays. Tom was a loving and supportive husband, dad, grandfather, great-grandfather, step-father and step-grandfather. He will be missed immensely. A memorial visit will be conducted on Thursday, March 12, 2020 from 6 to 8 PM at Southern Funeral Care in Riverview. A Memorial Mass will take place at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church on Friday, March 13, 2020 at 10:00 AM.
