Obituary for Theresa Ann Scott Edwards

Theresa Ann Scott Edwards, our beloved sister, aunt and great-aunt passed away peacefully on November 23, 2023, with family members by her side, after suffering from a serious infection caused by a ruptured appendix.

Theresa was born in Greensboro, NC, on November 3,1948, to Marshall and Eleanor Scott. The oldest of five children, she was a great helper to her parents and an exceptional older sister who deeply loved her family. She was a quick learner and loved to read. She loved sharing her books with others.

She was a natural artist at a young age and always had an eye for beauty. Over the years she and her husband, Pete, accumulated a beautiful collection of artwork and their home was like an art gallery with many interesting things, but her most precious pieces were the paintings, drawings and handicrafts of her own beloved family members.

Theresa was a devoted mother and wife. Her greatest joy in life was her only child, Eric. His loss in 2002 was a devastating blow to her but she wanted to feel that sorrow. It was her way to live deeply and to love deeply. She had amazing compassion for others. She always put her husband, Pete first. They were married for over 40 years before he passed away in 2015. She cared for her mother in her last years. Being Christlike was part of her character. She ministered to those around her.

Theresa loved to travel and went on many adventures with her husband and son. They have lived in Florida, Texas, and Saudi Arabia.

Theresa was also adventurous in the kitchen and was a fantastic cook and she loved to delight the people she loved with her gourmet dishes. She was an amazing hostess and loved to spoil her guests with exceptional comfort, care and incredible cooking. She always cherished the days she had spent in the kitchen with her son, Eric, cooking and creating together.

Theresa was an avid gardener and was gifted with a green thumb. She would lovingly save the banana peels for the roses and the tea bags for the plants. Her home and gardens were always beautiful and well-tended to.

She was a genuine pet lover. She dearly loved the animals that were a part of her life and considered them family. Her pets even signed, alongside her name, every greeting card and birthday card she sent out.

Theresa emanated love. She was quick to praise, congratulate and appreciate others. She acknowledged the birthdays, special occasions and accomplishments of family members and friends. She always made those she loved feel valued and important, and she sent countless cards and texts over the years emanating her love. She was loved by all who knew her and will be so very missed.

Theresa is preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Fletcher Edwards (Pete), her sunshine, son, Eric Fletcher Edwards and her father and mother, Marshall and Eleanor Scott.

Theresa is survived by her siblings: Helen Elizabeth (Don) High, Marsha Scott, Marshall Jr (Rachel) Scott, Billy (Janet) Scott; her many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Theresa’s memorial service, a celebration of her life, will be Saturday, December 2, 2023, at 4:30 PM with family receiving friends one hour prior at:
