Obituary for Terry R. Carr
On Sunday, May 17, 2020 Terry Carr, loving husband, brother, uncle, and grandfather passed away at the young age of 67.
Terry was born on December 2, 1952 in Allentown, PA to Harold and Evelyn. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from York College of Pennsylvania in 1974 and then his Programing degree in 1982. He dedicated 34 years to the IT department as a Computer Specialist at the Corporate Social Security Administration in Woodlawn, MD, eventually retiring in 2015.
On October 3, 2014, surrounded by all their friends and family, Terry married Vickie, the love of his life and soulmate. Shortly thereafter, in 2015, they retired to Delaware to live the retired beach life. However, Terry wasn’t the type to sit still for too long, so he began working at the Cape May Lewes Ferry for 2 years. Terry and Vickie found themselves moving to Florida in 2018 to be close to their two grandsons. Terry dreamed to continue working part time at Disney when they moved, but he quickly realized the Florida heat was not conducive to such work, so he began working at Publix in the Bakery / Cashiering departments.
Terry had a passion for collections, pin ball machines, board games, game nights with family and theme parks, especially Disney. Terry also loved holidays and the joy that Halloween and Christmas would bring. At Halloween, Terry and Vickie would plan their silly couple’s costumes months in advance. During the Christmas season, Terry would dedicate hours setting up his Department 56 village and Disney Lionel train set around the tree.
As proud DVC members, Terry and Vickie vacationed to Disney several times a year. Terry grew up visiting amusement parks with his brother and nieces and talked about those times often. He even referred to himself as Coaster Carr. Terry would plan for the days when his 2 grandsons would be old enough to ride the big roller coasters with him. He was known for his youthful spirit and quirky sense of humor. Terry had a way of making those around him laugh without even trying. He will be missed beyond belief by all those who were blessed to have known him.
Terry was preceded in death by his father Harold, his mother Evelyn and his sister-in-law, Carol. He is survived by his wife Vickie and his brother Jim. Terry also leaves behind his 2 grandchildren, Beckett and Carl, his nieces Donna and Lori and their children Nick, Allie, Tyler and Leia, as well as Vickie’s daughter’s Cristina and Lisa.
A celebration of Terry will be held in the coming months to honor his life and the joy he added to all of ours. We will forever be grateful for the precious time we were blessed to have Terry in our lives and will cherish all the wonderful memories we had together. We love you, until we meet again…
