
Sondra Perdue Cone, age 85, of Valrico, FL, passed away on Saturday, May 17, 2025. She was born in Naoma, West Virginia, on September 30, 1939, to Ralph and Irene Perdue.
Sondra spent her early years as the eldest of five children in West Virginia before moving to Florida at the age of 15. She attended Brandon High School, where she met her future husband, David Cone. After graduating in 1957, she went on to marry David in 1961. Together, they raised two children: Jennifer and John.
Sondra later graduated from the University of South Florida and devoted over 30 years to teaching elementary school. Throughout her career, she touched the lives of countless students who were fortunate to have her as their teacher.
In retirement, Sondra took up quilting and lovingly created and shared many beautiful quilts with friends and family. These quilts, each a unique work of art, remain a cherished legacy for those who received them.
Sondra is survived by her loving husband, David Cone; sister, Linda Johns; daughter, Jennifer Heath, and son-in-law, Ray Heath; son, John Cone, and daughter-in-law, Melissa Cone; granddaughter, Tessa Kushmerick, and her husband, Jeff, along with their children, Harper and Savannah; grandson, Jesse Heath, and his wife, Emily, along with their children, Amelia and Madelynn; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, and close friends.
A memorial service to honor Sondra’s life will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Brandon, located at 121 Carver Ave, Brandon, FL 33510. Refreshments will be served immediately following the service.
