Shirley Katherine Wakefield, age 85, of Tampa Florida passed away on Wednesday, April 9, 2025. Shirley was born in Plattsburg, NY on March 9, 1940, the daughter of Willis and Marriane Murray Jarvis.
She worked many years in manufacturing as a product designer for Hurley Mat Company. Shirley was predeceased by her loving husband, Peter W. Wakefield, Sr., who proudly served our country in the United States Air Force.
She is survived by sons, Peter W. Wakefield, Jr. of Tampa, FL, Michael Wakefield and daughter in law, Jacqueline Mitchell, of Valrico, FL; daughter, Susan Wakefield of Brandon, FL; brother, Donald Jarvis of Montpelier, Vt.; niece, Janet Dunmyer and 4 grandchildren, Krystal Hayworth, Vanesa Wakefield, Amanda Wakefield, and Mia Mitchell.
Friends and family are invited to attend a time of visitation on Friday morning April 18, 2025 from 8:15AM to 9:00AM at Southern Funeral Care, 10510 Riverview Drive, Riverview, Florida. A funeral service will immediately follow at 9:00AM. Committal services will take place at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida with a scheduled time of 11:30AM, Friday, April 18, 2025, following the funeral service.
