Sharon Kay Zimmer, 69, of Riverview, FL, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2026, surrounded by her husband, children, sister, and sister-in-law.
Born on November 16, 1956, in Detroit, MI, Sharon was the beloved wife of Greg Zimmer, her high school sweetheart, to whom she was married for 49 years, and the daughter of Ray and Thelma Colley of Yale, Michigan. Sharon graduated from Croswell-Lexington High School in 1974 and later attended Lake Superior State University.
Throughout her life, Sharon was known for her kindness, faith, and beauty — both inside and out. She had a rare ability to make everyone around her feel loved, valued, and welcome. Her selfless heart was evident in the way she cared for others, always putting family and those she loved first.
Sharon’s greatest joy was her family. She was the heart of the family and happiest when surrounded by the people she loved. She cherished family dinners, holidays, traditions, and especially time with her grandchildren, where she was lovingly known as Mema. Her home and her heart were always open, and no one ever left Sharon without feeling cared for.
Sharon accepted Christ as her Savior as a teenager, and her faith remained the foundation of her life. Her love for God was reflected through her compassion, strength, generosity, and the way she lived each day. She carried a quiet strength that inspired everyone who knew her.
Sharon also had an incredible passion for life and adventure. She was not one to slow down — except perhaps to enjoy a beautiful sunset. She loved riding her bike for miles, touring on her Harley-Davidson, and running and walking through the neighborhood. She embraced life through skiing, sailing, camping, water sports, and countless outdoor adventures. Sharon showed everyone around her that age was just a number and that life was meant to be lived fully.
Those who knew Sharon will remember her warmth, her fun-loving spirit, her beautiful smile, and the way she brought people together. She had a gift for making ordinary moments special and leaving a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Sharon is survived by her husband, Greg Zimmer; her twins, Nicole Geisler (Jason) and Nathan Zimmer (Kim); her sister Linda Spernak; and her four grandchildren, Gatlin, Vayda, Ellie, and Reid, who were her pride and joy.
The family would like to express their gratitude for the love, prayers, support, and kindness shown during this difficult time.
A celebration of Sharon’s life will be held on July 10 from 1–3 p.m. at Bell Shoals Baptist Church and again in Michigan on July 25.
Sharon’s memory will live on through the countless lives she touched. Her love, faith, kindness, and beautiful spirit will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
