Obituary for Satya Pal Singh
It is with deepest sorrow for our loss, but with profound gratitude for his life, that we announce the death of Dr. Satya Pal Singh on January 26, 2018. Satya was born on August 9, 1944, to parents Surendra and Krishna Devi Singh in Bamnauli, India. He immigrated to the United States in 1971 after marrying his beloved wife, Sangeeta, on May 9, 1969. Satya was always a top student who earned two Masters of Science degrees, in addition to his PhD in civil engineering. He was a brilliant mathematician, who made several lasting contributions in civil engineering. In addition to his professional achievements, he authored the book, “My Take, A Predication,” a small sampling of his prolific collection of philosophical and poetic musings. He was an observant, generous, and deep-thinking man, with an enduring hope for social justice and a wonderful sense of humor. He was an incredible husband, father, grandfather and friend, who is adored and will be deeply missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife Sangeeta, his children Janu (Naveen Bohra) and Amit (Amy) Singh, six grandchildren Julia, Mira, Nathan, Cecily, Karina and Xavier, three brothers Virendra, Ravindra, and Dharmendra, and one sister Suman.
