Obituary for Ruth Ellen Clark
Ruth Ellen (Ladson) Clark passed away on December 22 at 6:00 at St Joseph’s Main hospital after a long battle with cancer and other health issues.

She was born on April 6th 1951 in Marion County Indiana to Chester Franklin Ladson and Ethel Mae (Smith) Ladson who both preceded her in death.

She married Robert Rea Clark on October 20th 1972. They have two children who she loved to spend time with whenever possible. Their son Robert Troy Clark and his wife Megan live in Terre Haute, Indiana, and their daughter, Ericka Raellen (Clark) Castleberg and her husband Daniel live in Flower Mound, Texas. Ruth is also survived by several cousins who thought of her as a sister.

Ruth was a 1969 graduate of Union High School in Dugger, Indiana, and graduated from Indiana State University with a Bachelors and Masters degree in English education. She taught four years at Union High School before becoming a stay at home mom while the kids were young. She then did a lot of substitute teaching and she loved to referee volleyball games. After the kids got older she went to work as a business officer manager at a nursing home and later at Doughmakers in Terre Haute. In 2005 Ruth decided she’d had enough of the Indiana cold, and she and Bob moved to Florida. In 2008 she was first diagnosed with cancer, which she battled and beat. This forced her to retire, but allowed her and Bob to spend a lot of time together doing all the fun things Floridians enjoy doing. In 2017 her cancer returned, but she once again fought back and went into remission. She had other serious health issues which she also overcame, and she was even able to resume one of her favorite activities: mowing the lawn.

To know Ruth was to know joy. She never met a stranger and always had a smile on her face. She and Bob worshiped at the Brandon Church of Christ, and everyone there loved “Ms. Ruth.” She truly enjoyed going to church and was faithful in her attendance even when she didn’t feel well. She was very involved and especially loved doing a lot of things with the young kids and women’s classes. She was just an inspiration to all who knew her.

Funeral services and interment will be held in Dugger, IN. Contact Newkirk's Funeral Home, 8195 E. Main Street, Dugger, IN 47848, (812) 648-2642, for funeral information.
