Obituary for Ross S. Carter
Ross S. Carter, 83, of Valrico, Florida departed this world for his heavenly home on February 12, 2020. He is survived by his wife, Jane, his sons Mike, Scott, and Jimmy Carter, grandchildren Kelly, Allison, Christina, Paige, Payton and Cole Carter and his sister Kay Ryan.

Ross was an active member of Bell Shoals Baptist Church, and previously a long time member of First Baptist Church of Brandon, where he served as a deacon and a teacher in the Special Education Department for over 20 years. He was also a member of Brandon Rotary Club where he served as an officer and Paul Harris Fellow.At North Brandon Little League he was a longtime coach, officer, and board member. At Brandon High School Booster Club he served as an officer and was the recipient of Mr. Eagle Award in 1984.

Ross graduated from Andrew Jackson High School in Jacksonville, Florida and Stetson University in Deland, Florida.

In his professional life, Ross was drafted by the Braves Baseball Franchise as a pitcher and played for several years on minor league teams as well as the Atlanta Braves. He retired following a severe injury to his pitching arm.

After baseball, Ross held sales and sales management positions with General Foods Corp., Ideal Cement Co. and Fife Pipe Co.

Ross was so loved by so many family members and friends. He prioritized his time and efforts always putting God and family first before himself. He will always be remembered and cherished by those he loved and those that loved him so very much. Goodbye for now our loved one, until we meet again in heaven.

A Celebration of Life service will be held 3:00 P.M. Saturday, February 22, 2020, in the chapel at Bell Shoals Baptist Church with the family receiving friends one hour prior to services. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Bell Shoals Baptist Church or Florida Baptist Children's Home, Lakeland, FL. for the Ross S. Carter Memorial Fund.
