Rose-ellen Horan passed away peacefully in Sun City Center, FL, on Sunday, August 11th, 2024. Born December 21st, 1947, in Bronx, NY, to Helen (Kurpiewski) and Joseph Buchta, Rose-ellen lived a life full of love, creativity, and laughter.
Known for throwing unforgettable parties and cooking delicious meals, Rose-ellen was the ultimate host. Whether singing and dancing to 1950s tunes, enjoying a beach picnic, or bodysurfing, she always knew how to have fun — and made sure everyone around her did too. Founder of Alliance Employment Services, she balanced her career with a deep commitment to family, always putting those she loved first.
Rose-ellen was a talented artist, with a passion for miniatures and sewing. Her knack for crafting made her an exceptional Girl Scout leader. She led countless trips and activities with energy and enthusiasm. Ever the problem solver, she once even carried a troop member with a hurt ankle along Washington D.C.’s President's Trail, refusing to let anything stand in the way of fun. Her warmth and gregarious spirit made her the kind of friend everyone cherished.
Rose-ellen was predeceased by her beloved husband of 52 years, Robert Horan; uncle, John Kurpiewski; brother, Joseph Buchta; and parents, Helen and Joseph Buchta. She is survived by daughters, Helene (Doug) Weir and Laura (Paulo) Ricardo, and granddaughters, Brittney and Alyssa Ciardi. She also leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Rose-ellen’s genuine heart touched everyone she met. Her light and love will be forever missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
"We love you more than all the stars in the sky, all the blades of grass on a Kentucky field, and all the grains of sand on a Florida beach."
