We would like to celebrate the life of Ronald (Ronnie) Kent Powell, a man who touched so many lives with his unwavering love, kindness, and warmth.
Ronnie passed away on November 16, 2024 in Brandon, FL. He was born on October 28, 1954 in Newport News, VA- a graduate of Menchville High School, class of 1973. He was pre-deceased by his parents, Tandy B Sr. and Ellie Powell. Ronnie is survived by his children, Joseph Powell and Aimee Cisneros with her spouse Alex Cisneros. As well, he had four grandchildren- Madison Lindo with her husband Kenneth Lindo, Devonte Ellison, Shaliyah Ellison and Makya Ellison plus three great grandchildren. He is also survived by his elder brother, Tandy B Powell Jr and family, still residing in Newport News. Though our hearts are heavy with his passing, we are comforted by the countless memories he left behind—a testament to a life well lived and deeply loved.
Ronnie spent so much of his life working hard- he spent many years with Noland Company and made his way into the Outside Sales Manager position. With the dissolution of Noland company, Ronnie took one of the most rewarding risks of his life and began a career as a flight attendant with Delta airlines. As a flight attendant, he saw many of his bucket list sights and made several new friends along the way. Along with his family, this was truly a highlight in his life.
Ronnie’s greatest joy in life was his family. He made everyone feel valued and cherished. To Ronnie, family wasn’t just an important thing—it was everything. He found happiness in the simplest moments: sharing stories over meals, celebrating milestones, or even the quiet evenings spent in each other’s company. His love was steady and dependable, offering support and encouragement through every challenge and triumph.
Ronnie’s family extended beyond the humans in his life. There was another heart he loved dearly: his dog, Lily. Anyone who knew Ronnie knew of Lily, his faithful companion and constant source of joy. Lily was not just a pet but a cherished member of his family. The bond they shared was extraordinary—long walks, playful moments in the yard, and the quiet comfort of her presence by his side. To Ronnie, Lily symbolized loyalty, love, and the simple pleasures of life.
Ronnie had a gift for making those around him feel special, whether through his genuine smile, his hearty laugh, or the way he always tried to listened with care. As we bid farewell to Ronnie, let us carry forward the lessons he taught us: to love unconditionally, to cherish our families, and to appreciate the small but meaningful. moments in life. Though he may no longer walk beside us, his spirit lives on in our hearts, in the stories we share, and in the love, we continue to give one another.
Rest peacefully, Ronnie. May your love for your family and Lily continue to inspire us all. You will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
