Obituary for Roger Wayne Pessoa
On February 4th, ROGER WAYNE PESSOA (known to some as Dicky), heard GOD’s Calling at 2:04 PM at Saint Joseph (BayCare) Hospital, located in Riverview (Tampa), Florida, after suffering from multiple illness over the last few years. Born on October, 2nd 1940; to his parents (Cyril I. Pessoa, Sr., and Ena M. Farnum – Pessoa (Both Deceased), in the City of Cristobal (Colon, Republic of Panama). Roger was preceded by three sons (John R. Pessoa; Gregory A. Pessoa; and earlier last year by Ronald O. Pessoa). He is survived by his son (Andre Mauricio Pessoa). Roger had 7 siblings (Cyril I. Pessoa, Jr.; Xenia E. Pessoa – Kentish (Deceased); Guillermo “Gill” R. Pessoa; Donna “Cookie” L. Pessoa-Mestre; Nola I. Pessoa (Deceased); Terry A. Pessoa; and Andrés Rafael “Butch” Pessoa, with whom he lived with prior to his demise). Other relatives (Uncles: Victor Farnum, Avon R. Farnum, Robert “Bob” Pessoa (All Deceased); Aunts: Elena Alberta Farnum (Deceased); Cousins: Andrea Weeks Farnum (Deceased); Earl Farnum; Vernal Farnum (Deceased); Margaret Farnum – Watson; Yolanda Farnum (Deceased); and Lucia Farnum – Ambler Roger graduated from Rainbow City High School, with Academic Honors in 1959; and that was followed immediately by his acceptance into the Panama Canal Company (US Govt) Apprentice Program (Electrical Engineering Locks Power Station). After graduating from the Panama Canal Company Apprentice Program, Roger opted to emigrate to the United States. After a brief employment with Irving Trust Company, he was drafted into the Airforce Military, during Vietnam’s South East Asia Conflict. Upon leaving the Airforce, Roger leaped frog into Management Ranks with AT&T, utilizing techniques and skills acquired from the Panama Canal Company, and the US Airforce; overseeing various Business Management Teams; and International Engineering Development Groups in New York, México and the Asia Pacific Rim. Roger was a GOD Fearing, a Loving Brother, Uncle, Father, and Friend, whose quick wit and humor served to charmed most. He accepted Christ at an early age; and was baptized at Christ Church by the Sea (Anglican / Episcopal Church), in the City of Colón, Rep of Panamá. Psalm 37, Verse 5: GOD has a reason for allowing things to happen. We may never understand HIS WISDOM, but we simply have to TRUST HIS WILL. A Celebration of his life will be conducted at Sarasota National Cemetery on Friday, February 12, 2021 at 10 AM With Honors from the US Airforce.
