Rodney Allen Perkins, 71 of Brandon, Florida, June 6, 1953-September 23, 2024. Rodney was born in Aiken, South Carolina to parents, Jay Dee Perkins Sr. and Catherine Caulder Perkins. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, sister Brenda Rojas and brother-in-law Rocky Guerra. He is survived by his brother Jay (Buddy) Perkins (Barbara), sisters Cathy Guerra, Patti Chin (Matt), Carol Weathersby (Tim), 7 nieces and nephews, as well as numerous extended family. Rodney graduated from McDonald training center specializing in the gardening program. He was an avid and accomplished bowler participating in Special Olympics at a high level, going to the Florida State Championship as a young adult. Rodney loved classic country music and had an amazing ability to hear a song on the radio and immediately know the artist that recorded it. Rodney loved the Buccaneers and local Fox 13 television personalities. He cherished his many Batman and Buccaneer items. Rodney was associate at the Bloomingdale Publix store for 27 years as a Front Service Clerk. He loved coming to work, often telling his retired friends and family that they needed to get a job at Publix too. A Celebration of Life service will be held 10:00 A.M. Saturday, September 28, 2024, in the chapel at Bell Shoals Church.
