Obituary for Robert C. "Bob" Rose
ROBERT C. “BOB” ROSE, 77, of Valrico FL, passed away unexpectedly Fri. Sept 11, 2020.
Bob was born in Tarboro, N.C., on December 4, 1942, but grew up in Tampa, FL after his parents moved to Davis Island in 1945. He graduated from Plant High School in 1960 and entered college at the University of South Florida as a charter member. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the US Army as a commissioned officer with the rank of 2nd Lt. He served as Medical Registrar of the hospital at Fort Jackson in Columbia, South Carolina , where he received the National Defense Service Medal and Army Commendation Medal and was promoted to Captain. It was here that he met Fredricka ( Freddie) Morgan of McBee, SC, and they were married on March 4, 1967. Upon completion of his service, he entered the FBI as a special agent in 1969 and following training at the FBI Academy in Quantico, VA, was assigned to the office in St. Louis, Missouri. Their first child, Andrea, was born there. After two years, they returned to Tampa, FL, where he began his career with General Telephone & Electronics, working as an investigator in the Security Dept. in St. Petersburg, FL. Their son, Rob, was born there. He later transferred to the Tampa Office, where he continued to work until his retirement in 1996. Upon retirement, he and Freddie enjoyed many years of RVing and boating on Florida rivers and lakes. His pastime was filled with keeping in touch with friends from high school, the military, and former co-workers. His hobbies included gardening and caring for their yard. The project that brought him the most joy was restoring an heirloom 1951 Ford 8N tractor that belonged to his uncle in Asheboro, NC. He named it “Uncle Boo.” Bob’s greatest pleasure in life was time spent with family and friends, all of whom he loved dearly. He will be greatly missed but forever in our hearts. He was pre-deceased by his parents, George W. Rose and Hilda Cranford Rose. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Freddie Morgan Rose, daughter Andrea Gill (Gerry) of Charlotte, N.C., son Robert “Rob” Rose of Brandon, FL, granddaughters Sydney Gill Foster (Brandon) of Mooresville, N. C., Carly Gill of Charlotte, N. C., brother David Rose (Judy) of Valrico, FL, and Sam Rose of Tampa, FL, Nieces Karen Heinberg of Tampa, FL, and Kathy Chambers (Chris) of Sandpoint, ID. Condolences will be received at Southern Funeral Care, Riverview, FL. A private celebration of life will be held for the immediate family. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the charity of your choice.
