Obituary for Robert "Bob" William Kamp
Robert “Bob” William Kamp was born on November 2, 1927 in Eglin, Illinois and died April 3, 2022 in Riverview, Florida. He was raised in East Dundee, Illinois. He is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Phyllis Ann Kamp (nee Comstock); daughters, Byrnina (Howard) Murray, and Beth (Tom Veath) Kamp Veath; daughter-in-law Kim Kamp; grandchildren, Matthew Kamp and Michael (Jen) Kamp, Amanda (Michael) Ramirez, Andrea Murray, Blake and Grant Veath; and great-grandchildren, Noa and Mina Ramirez, Landon and Caiden Kamp, and Zelda Mayers. Bob was preceded in death by his parents William and Getrude, son Bruce, and siblings Phyllis, Rich, Jack, and Dee. Bob was a devoted family man and hard worker who worked at Fin & Feather Farm in Dundee, Illinois where he met his wife and spent many years as a heavy equipment operator in Northern Illinois and Texas. He also served in the Army during the Korean War. After retiring, Bob continued to work at campgrounds in Illinois, Texas, and Florida, even taking a turn as a train conductor at the St. Louis Zoo. He could fix or build anything but especially loved tinkering on his beloved truck. He adored his dachshunds and was a proud grandpa and great grandpa to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, both near and far. The world lost a great man who will be missed by many friends and extended family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice or to a memorial bench by contacting Beth Kamp Veath (Venmo @Beth-Veath or mail to 9148 Fox Bridge, St. Louis MO 63127).
