Obituary for Richard Oliver Copher
COPHER, Richard O. passed away surrounded by love on December 2, 2020. He was born in Tampa, Florida, August 3, 1945 and was a 1963 Brandon High School graduate who went on to become an extraordinarily successful entrepreneur in the automotive recycling industry owning Copher Brothers Auto Salvage and Copher U Pull It locations throughout the Tampa Bay Area and Hermanos Copher in Costa Rica and Guatemala. He was also a partner of Vehicle Recycling Solutions with businesses in several cities throughout the Midwestern United States region. Richard was a 32nd Degree Mason, a Shriner, and a member of The Royal Order of Jesters. He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years Pamela Peterson Copher; daughter Heather Copher-Sweeney (Dennis); grandchildren, Hayden and Halle Sweeney; sister Betty Jo Wood; brother Ronald; along with many extended family. Richard had a heart for connecting with others. He was a loving husband, father, Poppy, brother and friend. He will be remembered for his business acumen, gregarious personality, famous one-liners and his love of sports. A celebration of his life will be held at Southern Funeral Care, Riverview on Thursday December 10, 2020 at 2:00pm. The family will receive visitation from 1-2pm. Entombment will follow at Hillsboro Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made in memory of Richard to Shriners Hospitals for Children.
