Richard Henry Hosea Sr., age 88, transitioned to Heaven Christmas Day 2022 at his home, following a brief illness, surrounded by his sons.
From an early age Richard loved making things. He became an auto mechanic, a furniture builder, cabinet maker and poet. There wasn’t anything he couldn’t fix or build. His home others have evidence of his craftmanship. However, his greatest love was serving Jesus. He was called into the ministry in 1959 and served faithfully as a pastor for 63 years, most recently as Associate Pastor at Simmons Loop Baptist Church.
Richard met his wife of nearly 70 years, Ramona (deceased), in 1950. They married in August 1952. Their example of faithful marriage, especially when Ramona developed dementia, was a testimony to all. Together they raised three sons, Ric (Cathy), Randall (Kathy), and Ron (Ella). They served the Lord together and were devoted to their sons and their families. In addition to his sons Richard is survived by five grandsons, one step-granddaughter, 12 great grandchildren, two step great grandchildren and three step great, great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held Monday, January 2, 2023, at Simmons Loop Baptist Church. Family Visitation will begin at 10:00 am with the service to follow at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Simmons Loop Baptist Church
