Obituary for Quinn Murphy Williams

Quinn Murphy Williams (Lithia, Florida) passed away on Saturday, May 30, 2026, as the result of a tragic car accident. He was three days short of his 16th birthday.

Quinn was born on June 2, 2010, in New Brunswick, New Jersey, to his loving parents, Mark and Lynn Williams. He spent much of his early childhood in Texas prior to moving to Florida in 2022. Quinn was a rising junior at Newsome High School, where he was known for his intellect, warmth, and vibrant spirit.

A gifted and passionate musician, Quinn was an active member of the Newsome High School Band, where he proudly played the trumpet. Music was a meaningful part of his life, and he took great pride in being part of the band community. His fellow band members and instructors remember him not only for his talent, but for the humor, energy, and joy he brought into every room.

Quinn was also a devoted Boy Scout, dedicating years of service to community leadership and personal growth. At the time of his passing, he was only weeks away from earning the rank of Eagle Scout and completing his final project. This achievement—attained by only a small percentage of Scouts—meant a great deal to Quinn, as it represented both his own determination and a legacy within his family, following in the footsteps of several cousins who had earned the same honor.

His commitment to excellence extended into his academic life. Quinn was recently inducted into the National Honor Society at Newsome High School, recognized for his character, leadership, scholarship, and service. He completed more than 100 hours of community service through band activities, scouting conservation projects, and personal initiatives, including teaching young children how to swim.

Quinn looked ahead to a bright future and aspired to attend Texas A&M University, where he hoped to continue his love of music as a member of the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Band while pursuing studies in engineering or architecture. His teachers consistently admired his intelligence, quick wit, kindness, and willingness to help others.

Outside of his many accomplishments, Quinn found joy in the simple and meaningful moments of life. He was an avid reader, enjoyed building intricate Lego creations, solving jigsaw puzzles, and playing basketball. Above all, he cherished time with his friends—sharing laughter, creating memories, and lifting others with his humor and generosity of spirit. He loved deeply and was deeply loved in return.

Quinn is survived by his beloved parents, Mark and Lynn Williams; his grandmother and several aunts, uncles, and cousins who were dear to him and whom he held as siblings in his heart.

A visitation will be held on Friday, June 5, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Southern Funeral Care, 10510 Riverview Drive, Riverview, Florida 33578. A Funeral Mass and gathering will take place on Saturday, June 6, at 11:00 a.m. at Nativity Catholic Church in Brandon, Florida.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Quinn’s memory to support the Newsome High School Band (www.newsomeband.org).

Quinn’s life, though far too brief, was rich with purpose, compassion, friendship, and joy. He leaves behind a lasting imprint on all who knew him. His memory will be treasured always, and his light will continue to shine through the lives he touched.
