Loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother, Osvaldo Colón-Hernández, passed away on July 23rd, 2023. Osvaldo was 94 and was surrounded by his loving family when he passed. Osvaldo was born to Facundo Colón and Petra Hernández, on August 5, 1928, in Gurabo, Puerto Rico. He was drafted into the Korean War in January 1952 where he was part of the 65th infantry brigade “The Borinqueneers” 3rd infantry division of the United States Army. He was honorably discharged in November 1952. After the war, he moved to New York where he met his wife, Genoveva Colón, and they were married in 1963. Osvaldo moved his family to Florida in 1978 and then into Brandon in 1979 where he soon became a member of Primera Iglesia Cristiana Hispana De Brandon, pastored by his brother-in-law and sister, Belén Camacho and Dina Camacho. Osvaldo was passionate about sharing the love of God with others and was a loyal servant to God. He spent many hours dedicating his life to studying God's word, ministering, and serving others. Now that Osvaldo has passed into the arms of our Lord, we should remind ourselves that while this is the end of Osvaldo’s physical life on Earth, it’s the beginning of an eternal and beautiful journey for him. He is survived by many loving family members, including his wife, Genoveva; daughters, Olga, Elizabeth, and Mercedes; and sons, Osvaldo Jr., Albert, Orlando, and Oscar; 15 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Thursday, August 3, 2023, at Primera Iglasia Cristiana Hispana de Brandon, 728 E. Lumsden Road, Brandon, with the family receiving friends one hour prior to services. Interment will follow at 1:30 P.M. at Sarasota National Cemetery with Military Honors.
