Oma Hyatt Keenan
KEENAN, Oma Hyatt, 93, of Lutz, passed away on Saturday, September 17, 2016. Born June 22, 1923, in Saluda Township, Jefferson County, IN to Charlie and Pearl Hyatt. Oma graduated from Saluda High School in 1941 and worked at the Jefferson Proving Grounds, Indiana Arsenal and CIGNA before moving to Tampa, FL. Oma retired from Housing and Urban Development (HUD) in Tampa after having worked for the government for more than 30 years. Predeceased by her parents, Charlie and Pearl Hyatt; her brothers, Virgil Hyatt, Howard Hyatt and Carl (Tim) Hyatt; her sisters, Ada Hyatt and Dorothy Hyatt Ferguson; grandson Marc Schlichting; son-in- law Frederick Schlichting Sr., and the love of her life, Ben Keenan. One of Omas favorite things was to travel with Ben across the U.S., especially to Alaska where they enjoyed spending the spring and summer seasons for 13 years. Oma leaves behind a loving extended family of four stepchildren, Sandi Schlichting, Kathy Reimann (Cal), Greg Keenan and Dan Keenan (Susan); 9 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; as well as her sister-in law, Shirley Hyatt; four nieces; one nephew; 2 great-nieces; 2 great-nephews; as well as many other dear friends. Her quiet loving manner will be very much missed by all who knew her. A special thank you to the wonderful caring staff at Brighton Gardens of Tampa SNF and LifePath Hospice, Gold Team.
