Smith, Ollie Jay, 91, of Riverview, FL, passed away on July 12, 2014 at his home surrounded by his family. Born October 22, 1922 to James Clinton and Junie Elizabeth (Doolin) Smith in Morgan County, Kentucky, he has lived in the Bay Area for more than 20 years. He is preceded in death by his parents, James "Clint" and Junie Smith; 3 brothers, John, Van and Henry Smith; 4 sisters, Ruby, Wilma, Maxine, and Jewel. He is survived by his brother, Lloyd Smith; sons, Jimmy and Garry Smith; daughters, Billy (Smith) Brown and Bonnie (Smith) Deffinbaugh; 6 grandchildren, Rachel (Smith) Bullock, Ricky Smith, Ronnie Smith, Stacy (Smith) Fountain, Aleeshia (Cook) Hagood, and Mechele (Deffinbaugh) Biehl; 12 great-grandchildren, Jayden Hagood, Alauna Hagood, Krystal (Smith) Lumsford, Brianna Smith, Jackie Smith, Lexi Bullock, Isaiah Biehl, Makala Smith, Colton Smith, Maddy Smith, Molly Smith, and Carter Smith; 2 great-great-grandchildren, Dakota Lee and Christian Best. During World War II Ollie proudly served his country as a Paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division in the 508th Infantry Company B at the Battle of the Bulge. After the war, Ollie returned home to Morgan County, Kentucky where he worked as a Deputy Sheriff for eight years and as a Carpenter until 1984 when he retired from the Ohio Carpenters Union. In Lieu of Flowers, donations can be made to Malone Funeral Home in Grayson, Kentucky or to the family at 11314 Tralee Drive, Riverview, FL 33569 to help cover funeral expenses.
