Norman Wesley Martin Sr., 90, of Brandon, Florida was called home Tuesday October 10, 2023 with his daughters by his side. He was the loving Father to Lisa Goodman (Jack) and Pam Supko (Joe). Loving Grand Father of Bryce Martin (Hannah), Allie Santiago (Edgar), Jeni Calhoun (Brian), Jami Lathrop (Tom), Jessica Goodman, Heather Taylor (Brian), Joe Supko (Nicole). Loving Great Grandfather to Felix Santiago, Everett Calhoun, Bennett Calhoun, Quinn Taylor and Reed Taylor. Beloved Son of late John Martin and Irene (Williamson). Loving Brother of Jean Porter (John) and Dean Martin. Wes was predeceased by his loving Wife of 60 years Joyce Crowe Martin and Son Norman Martin.
Wes was born in Chatham, VA. After graduating high school Wes attended VA Tech where he was on their Basketball Team and a member of the ROTC after his Freshman year he joined the Air Force. He was in Radar and Air Traffic Control. When he got the opportunity to serve as the Air Force Recruiter near his hometown he jumped at the chance to be near his family. He retired from the U.S. Air Force in Martinsville, VA where he was the Air Force recruiter from 1965 to 1973. After retirement he moved his family to Brandon, Florida where he and Joyce owned J & W Enterprises. They also enjoyed traveling the world together. He was a member of The Brandon Woodworkers Club, American Legion and The Masonic Lodge # 114.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Brandon Florida where he enjoyed serving the Lord being a Deacon, visiting and witnessing to the community and anyone else he would meet. He made many life long friends and enjoyed the fellowship of the Senior Adults.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at Southern Funeral Care, Riverview, with the family receiving friends one hour prior to services. Interment, with Military Honors, will be held 1:30 P.M. at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Wreaths Across America.org.
