Obituary for Norman Herman Voissem
Norman Herman Voissem, 88, of St. Petersburg, Florida died at home with family by his side on Saturday, December 4, 2021, due to complications following a stroke. He was born in Oshkosh, Wisconsin on June 19, 1933. He was an altar server for his church throughout his youth. He began working as a young child picking fruit and delivering newspapers and often spoke of his work at Oshkosh Corrugated Box Factory as well as his fondness of archery. He worked his way through Marquette University, graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. He worked at Honeywell for many years before returning to school, earning his teaching certificate, a Bachelor’s in Psychology, Master’s degrees in Psychology and Sociology, and a PhD in Industrial Psychology. He worked until his retirement at Florida Mental Health Institute in computer support. He instilled passion for learning in his daughter and granddaughters. He was devoted to his wife, family, and friends. As a man of patience and humility, people were drawn to his sense of humor, kindness, and quiet ways.
Norman is survived by his daughter Theresa Ruano, his granddaughters Alessandra and Isabella Ruano, his brothers John Voissem and Joe Voissem (wife Muriel), and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by Susan, his wife of fifty years, his parents Frank Alois Voissem and Theresa Stiller Voissem and his sister, Barbara Voissem.
Visitation will be Friday, December 17, 2021, from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at Southern Funeral Care, 10510 Riverview Drive, Riverview, FL. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, December 18, 2021, at 10:00 A.M. at Resurrection Catholic Church, 6819 Krycul Avenue, Riverview, FL, followed by interment at Calvary Catholic Cemetery, 5233-118th Avenue North, Clearwater, FL.
Memorial donations in Norman’s name may be made to Resurrection Catholic Church.
