Obituary for Nicole Lillian Kelso
KELSO, Nicole Lillian, 28, of Valrico, FL, came into this world December 4, 1989. Naming her Nicole was her Daddy’s idea; but she quickly became and forever remained NikNik to him. From the start, Nicole was drawn to animals. She appreciated them all. Her heart always had room for one more “plushie” and a trip to the zoo was never complete without an addition to her plastic menagerie. Kratts’ Creatures, The Crocodile Hunter, Animal Planet, and National Geographic entertained without fail. As Nicole grew, childhood dreams included becoming a veterinarian while other interests in school favored environmental sciences. Eventually, she found her way back to what interested her most; animals. After graduating Hillsborough Community College and becoming a certified veterinary technician (2016), Nicole began her career with Banfield Pet Hospital (Oldsmar). Her success in school and on the job afforded her a future she had only begun to realize. She found herself in a new world, learning and working with others; all the while, forming strong friendships built on shared interests, respect, sense of humor and affection. Nicole immersed herself in books, had eclectic taste in music and mastered the computer and video games intuitively. Dinosaurs amused and delighted her. She thoroughly enjoyed a day off, sleeping late, camping out, building and sitting by the perfect campfire, cool temperatures and was most comfortable in jeans, hoodies, and Converse Low-Top sneakers. Nicole celebrated accomplishments quietly and modestly and faced difficulties with honor and grace. Nicole left this world far too soon June 2, 2018. In the hereafter, she is with her dad (John), grandparents (Earl, Genevieve, Patricia), and uncle (Tom). She leaves behind her mom (Marion), sister (Jessica), brothers (John, Jason) and their families, grandfather (George), family and friends near and far, and her pup, Maximus. A memorial to celebrate and remember Nicole will be held Sat. Nov. 3, 2018 @12:00PM at Lowry Park (Shelter 126), North Blvd., Tampa, FL 33604. In memory, donations to Zoo Tampa at Lowry Park or the animal shelter of your choice are appreciated.
