Obituary for Nannette E. Amaden

Nannette E. Amaden of Wimauma, Florida passed away peacefully at home May 31, 2025 after a lengthy struggle with Parkinson’s disease.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Don, sons Greg (Lexie) of Marietta, GA and Todd (Lori) of Tampa, five beloved grandchildren, her sister Laura (Jim) of Leesburg, brothers-in-law Dean (Sher) of Plant City and Bob of Tampa, and cherished nieces, nephews and cousins.

Nannette studied classical piano in her early years. She played for her King High School orchestra, graduating with honors in 1962, and also for a local church prior to attending college. She attended the University of South Florida, later transferring to Florida State University where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics in 1966 and became a middle school teacher. She and Don married in 1966 and she retired from full time teaching in 1968 to devote herself to raising a family. She was a dedicated, loving and nurturing mother to her two sons.

She was a talented cook and enjoyed hosting dinners and holiday celebrations for family and friends. She also enjoyed beach vacations at various locations in Florida, where she would spend hours walking the shoreline, searching for shark teeth. And she loved travelling, both domestically and abroad. We enjoyed many wonderful trips with friends, family and, especially, with our “California cousins”.

Nannette was a long-time, faithful member of the First Presbyterian Church of Brandon, where she volunteered for various activities, including Meals on Wheels, and served as a Stephen Minister.

A Celebration of Life memorial service in honor of Nannette will be held on Saturday, July 26, 11:00 AM at the First Presbyterian Church of Brandon, 121 Carver Street, Brandon, FL 33510. A light lunch with refreshments will be provided immediately following the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Brandon/Memorials or to the Parkinson’s Foundation in honor of Nannette E. Amaden.
