RODGERS, Modessa Anita Barnes, 97, of Seffner, passed away on Friday, November 4, 2016. A native of Gulf Hammock, FL, she was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved all kinds of crafts with her specialty being bargello quilts and she loved to cook her favorite Southern dishes like, chicken and dumplings and sweet tea. For many years she worked as a beautician and operated a beauty salon with her oldest daughter, Sandra Jean Taylor. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur L. Rodgers, her daughter, Sandra Jean Taylor and son, Gary (Bubba) Rodgers. She is survived by her daughter, Cindi L. Rodgers Wright; granddaughter, Sandra M. (Brandon) Swan; great-grandchildren, Avery and Archer Swan; granddaughters, Sherri Rodgers Hobbs and Jennifer Pearce and many additional great and great-great-grandchildren, along with several special nieces and nephews.
Funeral Information
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, November 9, 2016, at the First Baptist Church of Brandon, 216 N. Parsons Ave., with the family receiving friends one hour prior to services. A reception will follow. Interment will be held at 2:00 P.M. at Garden of Memories Cemetery, Tampa.
