Michael S. Selemba, treasured husband, father, Papa and friend, passed away peacefully in Florida on February 5, 2025 with his family by his side.
He was born on February 15, 1944 in Ferndale, Michigan. While he always called Michigan home, he thoroughly enjoyed his retirement years as a snowbird down in Riverview, Florida. His ambition, hard work and dedication set the way for his rise from bag boy to upper management at Kroger for over 40 years. It was at a Kroger store that he met his devoted wife, Marilynne. They spent 58 wonderful years together with their 3 children and their families.
Family meant everything to Mike. He had an absolute sense of right and wrong, and made sure his children were instilled with a strong moral compass. He was very proud of his kids, and even prouder of his grandchildren. He loved nothing more than to spend time boating, fishing, camping and exploring the outdoors with his family. His grandchildren will always remember the many hours they spent at parks, swimming in his pool, and playing games like Webkinz, poker and blackjack. He had a passion for geography and presidential trivia, and loved all things peanut butter and chocolate.
Mike is survived by his wife Marilynne, and 3 children Dawn (Michael) Cummings, Kim (John) Galecki, and Michael (Anne) Selemba. He was an extraordinary Papa to Michael Cummings III, Nick Galecki, Patrick Cummings, David Selemba, Jenna Galecki and Catey Selemba. He touched the lives of many other family members and friends as well. His dog, Buddy, was his constant companion and will miss him dearly.
We couldn't have asked for a better husband / father / Papa/ friend, and we are so grateful for the almost 81 years we had with him.
