Michael David LaPorte, age 56, passed away on February 5, 2024. Born on May 23, 1967, Michael brought joy and laughter to all who knew him. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and colleagues.
Michael served as an executive at Sports Authority in Denver for 17 years until its eventual closure. He then joined Performance Food Group as a buyer, where he continued to excel in his career.
Michael had a great passion for sports and was an avid fan of the Florida Gators, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and the LA Lakers. He attended many of his favorite team's games and cheered them on with great enthusiasm. Michael's love for sports extended beyond just watching games on TV or attending events, as he also participated in various sports himself. He enjoyed playing golf and skiing and was always up for a friendly game of hoops with his nephews. He even attended the Kentucky Derby, which was one of his favorite annual events. Michael's love for sports was infectious, and he shared his passion with his family and friends by taking them to games and events while forming a special bond with others through sports. Michael also enjoyed spending time at the beach with his family and children. The beach was a place where Michael could relax and unwind, while also spending quality time with his loved ones.
He is survived by his children, Ella (15) and Mason (12). His mother, Barbara; sister Danielle, and her husband Mike; brother, Wayne, and his wife Kim and sister Kelly.
Please join us in celebrating the life of Michael David LaPorte. Michael touched the lives of many with his warmth, kindness, and infectious smile. Though he may no longer be with us, his spirit and memories will forever live on in our hearts.
