Matthew Raymond Powell, 47, of Clearwater, Florida passed away unexpectedly
in his home on May 10, 2026. He was born on May 16, 1978 in Jamestown NY to
Raymond E. Powell and Victoria A. Benigni-Powell.
Matthew grew up in Falconer, NY. He attended Levant Christian School until 8th
grade. He graduated high school from Falconer Central School where he played
football.
Matthew moved to Florida in 1996. He worked in the software business for 30
years. He was always traveling, and able to explore every corner of the world.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, boating, fishing, snowmobiling,
driving his Corvette, and riding his motorcycle. Matthew’s generosity knew no
bounds. He was the family’s most thoughtful gift giver from remote control
boats to silly bands, he always knew what would tickle each and everyone of us.
He is survived by mother Victoria Benigni-Powell, father, Raymond (Janet)
Powell, his son, Dylan (Katie) Powell, granddaughter, Lorelai, his brother
Michael (Anna) Powell, nieces, Alexandria Davis and Emelia Powell, nephew,
William Powell, aunt’s Barbara and Laura Benigni, uncle William (Helen) Benigni
and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Lloyd and Cora Powell, Beryl and
Fred Anderson, uncles Michael Benigni, Wayne Powell, aunt Polly Joslyn and
cousin Nicholas Benigni.
Private family services are being held in Florida.
