Mary "Jackie" Jacqueline Barry, went to her heavenly home on Wednesday, August 30th, 2023, at the age of 84. Jackie was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio and attended Ohio State University where she met her future husband. Jackie married Samuel Barry in 1963 and they lived an exciting military life together living in Cocoa Beach, Germany, New Mexico, Ohio and finally settling in Brandon, Florida in 1977. She worked for many years in the employment recruiting industry for Frank Leonard Personnel and ROMAC. Jackie was a member of Nativity Catholic Church and was involved in teaching CCD for many years and was a member of St. Gerard’s and Emmaus.
Jackie lived life to the fullest. She loved to travel and has seen most of the world as a military wife and later in life with her daughter. Her family meant everything to her, and she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was born of Italian descent and was very proud to be Italian! She was very social and loved spending time with her friends. She was blessed with so many women in her life that loved her and took good care of her. Above all, Jackie was faithful to the Lord and was a devout Catholic. She was inspiration to all that crossed paths with her. Her bright smile will be missed by all!
She was preceded in death by her parents, Anthony and Assunta “Sue” Patanella; her siblings, Theresa Moore and Ronnie Patanella and her nephew, Tony Moore. Jackie is survived by her husband, Samuel Barry; her daughter, Tina Ray (Troy); her grandsons, Derek and Kevin Ray and her great-grandson, Lyndin Ray.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Nativity Catholic Church, 705 E. Brandon Blvd, Brandon, FL 33511, on Saturday, September 9th, 2023, at 11:00 A.M. The family will be receiving friends with a viewing from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. A reception will follow the mass. In lieu of flowers please donate to a pet rescue organization of your choice or the American Cancer Society.
