Leota Lewis Long
LONG, Leota Lewis, 83, of Lithia, FL, went to be with the Lord on Monday, February 22, 2016, surrounded by her loving family. A Tampa native, she retired from Hillsborough County Schools where she worked for 28 years with the migrant program. Leota enjoyed life and loved spending time with her family. She spent her spare time playing cards, traveling and caring for the many flowers in her yard. Leota was preceded in death by her parents, Martha and Willie Joe Ray; husbands, Graham H. Lewis, Troy E. Long and Paul Jessee; her sister, Vicky L. Greer; her daughter, Martie McCorvey; her son-in-law, Jeff Andrews and step-daughter, Joyce Duque. Her spirit is carried on by her two loving daughters, Marja (Billy) Philpott and Marla Andrews, Gibsonton and step-daughter Mary (Brian) Smith; her siblings, Max (Marie) Ray, Shirley Barton, Woody (Patricia) Ray and Eddie Ray. Leota has 26 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren who love and adore her. Leota also leaves behind two lifelong friends, Ms. Monette Skidmore and Mrs. Jerrie Tucker.
Funeral Information
The family will receive friends 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Thursday, February 25, 2016, at Southern Funeral Care, 10510 Riverview Drive, Riverview. Leota will be laid to rest with a private family graveside burial at Hurrah Cemetery, Lithia, FL.
