Leonard A. Pullen of Valrico, Florida, was born September 3, 1938 in Anniston, AL and died on December 4th, 2025. His parents were James A. Pullen and Mary Charmical. He had one sibling, Ann, whom he adored who was 8 years older. He was a mischievous kid who liked to shoot people with his water gun and go fishing. He attended Indian Springs School in Birmingham, AL and was in the first graduating class (‘56).He graduated from UVA in 1960 with a BA in Mathematics. He attended with an ROTC scholarship and after graduation he became a pilot in the US Navy, flying a P2V. He was stationed in Spain for six months where he developed a love of Flamenco. He took part in the Cuban missile crisis, spying on the Russians from above. After leaving the Navy he earned an MBA at Emory University and was a proud member of Beta Gamma Sigma. After graduation he worked as a Financial Analyst at Prudential for many years. Later, he was a VP of Finance at AmSouth Bank (now Regions). He was very active in the church in all the 16 places he lived, serving as an elder and financial steward. He was an accomplished piano player and loved many kinds of music, especially classical and also loved the great outdoors and travel. A dedicated family man, he is survived by his wife of 64 years, Wanda Anders Pullen, who he met on a blind date while he was attending UVA and she was attending Randolph Macon. They had three children: Melanie Cottrell, Serena Gabriel and James Pullen. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Dominique Cottrell, Remy Cottrell, Sydney Pullen and Scarlett Pullen. He remained close with all of his Alabama relatives throughout his life. His huge heart, charming wit and sentimental spirit will be greatly missed.
