Katherine Ann Newman (61), of Riverview, FL, passed to her heavenly home on October 1, 2024. Born in Pittsburg, PA, and growing up in Raliegh, NC, Katherine moved to Florida after her high school graduation. She is survived by her husband, Edwin; brothers Bill, and Derek Swagert, Mike Visner and sisters, Kristine Swagert, Melissa Parker, Gail Dasher, and Maren Ackenhausen; plenty of loving family including nieces and nephews. She is proceeded in death by her mom, Jeanine Stanley.
As an active member of The Chapel at Fishhawk, Katherine loved Jesus, and never met a stranger. Her positive and welcoming demeanor was a constant encouragement to those around her. Serving beside her husband, Katherine impacted the lives of students with the love of Jesus. The Chapel is currently designing a place of public prayer in her honor so the community can experience God’s grace in an open area of comfort.
The family will host a Celebration of Life for Katherine on Saturday, December 7th, 2024 at the Chapel, 6026 Churchside Drive, Lithia, at 2pm. The family has asked in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the Prayer Garden of the Chapel @ Fishhawk in Katherine’s memory.
