Dunn, Judith, L. Dobler, 70, of Riverview, FL, died October 14, 2012 at Brandon Regional Hospital, following a long illness. Judy was born in Baldwin, N.Y., on April 27, 1942, and moved with her family to Hopewell, VA., in 1954. After High school Judy chose a career in Nursing, graduating from Maryview Hospital School of Nursing in Portsmouth, VA, as an R.N. on September 12, 1963. She met and married her husband Robert F. Dunn, on October 19, 1963 following graduation from nursing school. She spent more than four decades working mainly in the Critical Care units in VA, NJ, and FL. In FL, she worked at South Florida Baptist Hospital, returning to Brandon Regional Hospital in the early 1980's. Judy continued her education, while working full time, receiving her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Florida Southern College, graduating "summa cum laude", December 17, 1982. She continued her education and received her Master of Science in Nursing, from the University of Florida on August 8, 1987. Judy retired from Brandon Regional Hospital, having served as Assistant Chief Nursing Officer, from February 23, 1988, until July 17, 2002. Judy was very active in the community and was a past President and a member of the Board of Directors of the former Brandon Chapter of the American Heart Association. She was an active member and supporter of the GFWC Brandon Service League. She was predeceased by her third son, Martin Robert Dunn; mother, Mary A. Dobler; father, George W. Dobler; brother, George W. Dobler, Jr. She is survived by her husband, Robert F. Dunn of Riverview, FL; sons, Kevin S. Dunn of Riverview, FL, Brian T. Dunn( Dottie) of Riverview, FL; Grandson, Alexander M. Dunn( Jamie M.); two great- grandsons, Brigsby Dunn and Rexley Dunn of Valrico, FL. Judy was a dedicated RN who believed in providing only quality patient care. A memorial service will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, October 27, 2012 with the family receiving friends one hour prior to the service at Southern Funeral Care, 10510 Riverview Drive, Riverview, FL 33578. In lieu of Flowers, a Nursing scholarship fund has been set up for donations to honor Judy, GFWC Brandon Service League Scholarship Fund, 1315 Oakfield Drive # 140, Brandon, FL 33509-140. Family and friends will gather at the home of Brian and Dottie Dunn, in Riverview, following the memorial service.
