FOWLER, Joyce A., 78, of Brandon, passed away Tuesday, February 5, 2008, at Tampa General Hospital surrounded by her family. She was predeceased by her father, John W. Fowler, and her mother, Effie Fowler Pine. Joyce was born, February 16, 1929 in Tampa. She was a graduate of Florida State College for Women and began her teaching career in Atlanta, GA at Sarah Smith Elementary. She also taught at Morningside Elementary, Our Lady of Lourdes and Fowler Street Elementary. She became a mentor to many of her students who would frequently call for help with assignments. She was always available to them. Her phone would ring often from past students, who had graduated from college, thanking her for making a difference in their lives. She was a loving teacher, friend, aunt and sister. She is survived by her sister, Dot Cornett, her nephews, Ronald (Carole) Cornett and Donald (Judy) Cornett, her loving niece, Donna Cornett Smith, two great-nieces, three great-nephews, four great-great-nieces and four great-great-nephews, all of Brandon. A Memorial Service will be held at her sister's home on Saturday, March 15, 2008, at 11:00 A.M. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bell Shoals Baptist Church, Building Fund, at 2102 Bell Shoals Rd., Brandon, FL 33511 or to a charity of your choice.
