Joseph Leroy Pietro, Sr., 90, of Valrico, FL passed away on Sunday, July 26, 2026. A native of Des Moines, Iowa, he had resided here since 1985 coming from Olympia, WA. He was a retired US Army Vietnam Veteran, a member of AmVets #44; American Legion Post 72, Mulberry and the Brandon Elks Lodge #2383. He is survived by his son, Joe (Janice); daughters, Jerrilynn Pietro and Jacqueline Carter; grandchildren, Nello Faulk, Angelah Pietro, Pamela and Justin Rodriguez and great-grandchildren, Robbie and Baker. Funeral services will be held 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at Southern Funeral Care, Riverview, with the family receiving friends one hour prior to services. Interment, with full military honors, will be 12:30 P.M. at Sarasota National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Women Veterans Monument earmarked fund category at AMVETS Post 44 Plant City or website link,https://www.amvetspost44.org/donate/. The contributions will honor his passion for supporting the veteran community.
