Obituary for Joseph "Joey" Leonard Gromalski
Joseph Leonard Gromalski, 39, affectionately known as “Joey” by all who knew and loved him passed away unexpectedly on Sunday November 14, 2021. Joseph was born in Bayshore New York to Kim Nord (John) and Joseph Wayne Gromalski on February 23, 1982. He lived in New York until deciding to be close to his mother (the person he loved more than anyone in this world) and moving with his family to Valrico Florida in 2003. Joey worked in the restaurant industry for many years where his striking good looks and charismatic personality charmed everyone he met. He is survived by his five beautiful children Jayla Faith, Gabriella Nicole, Dylan Joseph, Julianna Rhysa and Christian Jaxx. His siblings Jennifer Wappett (Robert), Justin Gromalski (Gina) and Joshua Gromalski. He was also loved by the mothers of his children, his surviving grandparent Robert (Bob) Leonard, his nephew (Kayden) and nieces (Jordan and Olivia) aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends. He is proceeded in death by his beloved maternal grandmother, Mildred Leonard and his paternal grandparents.
To know Joey was to love him, it was as simple as that. His big personality and handsome smile lit up any room he walked into. Joey was always surrounded by friends. To him, his friends were family. He never met a stranger who didn’t become a friend. Joey would not want you to be sad or cry for him. The happiness of the ones he loved is what mattered most to him in life. He would want you to remember only the good and none of the bad. Joey struggled with addiction from the time he was a teenager, but his disease and struggle isn't what defined him as a person. What defined him was his huge heart, kind soul and most of all, his love for his children. He will live on inside their hearts forever. Take a stand in Joey’s honor and help someone who needs it today. Someone somewhere is hurting and needs to know you care. Joey fought his addiction with everything he had with the help of the ones who loved him the most. He would never want someone else to struggle in life as he did. Joey was a loving father, son, brother and grandson. Please remember him with fondness and understand how precious and short this life can be. Our lives are forever changed by this tragedy but there is always light at the end of a dark tunnel. Friends of Joey’s near and far have called to express their condolences and it just goes to show how loved he was and how much of an impact he made in this world. Everyone who loves Joey knows that he is no longer in pain. His soul is finally at peace and his beloved Grandmother Millie is by his side in Heaven. Joey will continue to watch over and protect those he loved with the same passion and zest for life that was his legacy. Rest easy brother until we meet again.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. Thursday, November 18, 2021, at Southern Funeral Care, Riverview.
