LOPEZ, Jorge, 87, of Tampa, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday, June 14, 2016.Born in Utuado, Puerto Rico on December 11, 1928, he moved to the United States and eventually settled in New Brunswick, N.J. where he married and raised his family. He retired in 1989 and moved to Tampa, FL to live out his golden years. His favorite pastime was tending to his garden and raising canaries, but his true passion was watching wrestling matches. He is survived by his wife, Angelina Lopez, of 50 years; his nine children, Margarita Haas (Mark); George Lopez (Bernadette); Ascension Lopez; Elisa Nieves (Edgar); Ramon Lopez (Lillian Ramos); Cristina Gonzalez (Vincent); Juanita Stevens (Tony); Luis Lopez; Erica Ruiz (Richard); 19 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren and 2 sisters, Margarita Lopez and Natividad Lopez, both from Puerto Rico.
Funeral Information
Funeral services will be held 9:30 A.M. Friday, June 17, 2016, at Southern Funeral Care, 10510 Riverview Dr., Riverview. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens, Thonotosassa, FL.
