Obituary for Jon Edwin Port
PORT, Jon Edwin, 78, of Seffner, passed peacefully on Thursday, November 29, 2018. Jon was a loving father, devout Christian and a truly endearing and creative man. He graduated from Boca Ciega High, St. Petersburg and the University of Florida with a degree in electrical engineering in 1965. After a co-op with NASA he began a travel-filled career as a power generator specialist for General Electric from '66 until retirement in '98. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Barbara Wolf Port; 2 sons, Jon (Vas) Port and Eric (Cindy) Port; daughter, Emily (Ty) Taylor; 3 grandchildren and 2 brothers, Fran and Bill Port. A Celebration of Life service will be held 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, December 4, 2018, at New Hope UMC, 120 N. Knights Ave., Brandon, FL. A reception will immediately follow at the family residence until 12:30 P.M., then a private burial service.
