Obituary for John "Jack" W. Maurer, Sr.
John W. "Jack" Maurer, Sr., 93, of Brandon, FL, passed away on Thursday, August 5, 2021. A native of Norfolk, VA, he had resided here most of his lifetime. He was a US Marine Corp veteran, a member of Nativity Catholic Church, Brandon, the Knights of Columbus and the Krewe of Venus. Preceded in death by his wife, Joyce "Joy" and son, George, he is survived by his sons, John W. Maurer, Jr. and Michael G. Maurer; daughters, Melinda Maurer Marshburn and Martha Beauchamp "Marci" Maurer Nunnnery; brother, Ted Maurer; 9 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30 A.M. Friday, August 20, 2021, at Nativity Catholic Church, Brandon. Inurnment will follow at 1:30 P.M. at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL with military honors. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to HOPE Lodge, Gainesville, FL.
